Antique glass chandeliers can be anything from light, whimsical and feminine to heavy, stately and masculine.  If you want something brilliant and luminous, go with a antique Victorian or Rococo chandelier covered in beautiful prisms.  If you want something a little more handsome and clean lined, look for a stained glass Tiffany chandelier!

You'll find both of these and so many more for sale on eBay at unbeatable prices.  Take your pick from antique or reproduction, French or English, Spanish or Italian style chandeliers.  You'll get the most for your money!

True antique glass chandeliers would have some parts of glass, an inorganic silica based (generally quartz sand) solid.  Even crystal chandeliers are generally made of glass formed, crystal-looking pieces.  True crystals formed by nature are seldom found in chandeliers.

When other ingredients are added to common glass, the glass takes on additional properties.  For example, adding lead or flint makes for great refraction of light.  Thus, leaded crystal is more brilliant and sparkly and often founded in antique glass chandeliers.

It was in the 20th century that glass began to be regarded as highly collectible art.  Included in this are antique and collectible glass chandeliers of all sizes, styles, and types of glass.  Stained glass in chandeliers is still popular as well as blown glass and cracked glass.  Glass cut with a diamond saw and polished to make gleaming facets is a technique used in creating Waterford glass products.
