Brass Antique Chandeliers

Brass looks a lot like gold when freshly polished.  It is not a pure metal like gold but a mixture of copper and zinc.  Like gold, the proportion of alloys can change its properties. 

Brass was popular and continues to be used in chandeliers because of its resistance to tarnishing.  Brass looks good with a high polish or more muted look.  When exposed to the elements, brass will quickly turn reddish.
